Welcome to the Barrett Bangladesh blog! We hope to update this regularly to give you a glimpse into our adventures abroad over the next two months. We left the US yesterday morning and flew all the way from JFK to Dubai. 12 hours in the air gave us plenty of time to fully experience some serious in-flight entertainment. No troubles with traveling thus far. The only thing that confuses the security peeps is our otoscope. We keep explaining that it is used to look in your ears, but no one seems to understand. So we are now just saying that it is medical equipment, which seems to go over better.
Right now we are hanging out in the swanky Dubai airport for a few hours. The good news is there are lots of coffee shops and free internet. And signs in English. Dane took this picture of the signage in the terminal. You can see the Arabic with the English below. Thanks to my college roommate, Elizabeth, I know that Arabic is read right to left. But that is the extent of my knowledge. So I am glad that everything is translated into English.
Our next flight is from Dubai to Dhaka, which is the capital of Bangladesh. We will spend one night in the capital and then take one more flight to the town where the hospital is. We will post again once we are settled. Thanks for reading!
