
The back of the hospital compound overlooks an estuary that eventually leads to the Bay of Bengal and then the Indian Ocean. The picture of the kids in the field (below) is one of many I have taken of the beautiful scenery right outside our room. Sadly, all of it used to be tropical rain forest. In the last 30 years much if not all of the forestland has been turned into rice fields and shrimp farms. Here is a picture of one of the many shrimp farmers on his boat after a day's work.

Awesome picture. I love the composition, the lighting, and especially the subject. Isn't it wonderful to be submerged in a culture so different than your own to be reminded that there are lots of ways of living in this world?
